Description

The presence of strong interplay among superconductivity, magnetism, charge, electronic and lattice degrees of freedom in many strongly correlated compounds gives rise to a rich variety of exotic phases, which have stimulated a large series of experimental and theoretical developments to grasp their physical significance. Topological superconductivity is another interesting state of matter, partly because it is associated with quasiparticle excitations which are Majorana fermions (MFs). Due to their scientific importance and potential applications in quantum computing, MFs have attracted lots of attention recently. We propose a detailed investigations of the uniaxial strain and hydrostatic pressure effects on novel electronic and magnetic properties of various strongly correlated and topologically non-trivial systems. The combination of muon-spin rotation (µSR), transport, Scanning Tunneling Microscope (STM), inelastic Neutron scattering (INS), resonant inelastic X-ray scattering (RIXS) as well as neutron diffraction experiments will be used in order to understand how the different states (spin, charge, lattice, topological) observed in various proposed systems are related with each other and what is their role for superconductivity.
