Description

Title: Acquisition of an amplified laser system for transient nano-spectroscopy and nano-imaging of functional materialsObjective:Objectives of this program include: 1) the development of a state-of-the-art ultra-fast beamline for fs-second control of materials phenomena at the nano-scale with spatial resolution exceeding 10 nm; 2) training of graduate students within a program at the intersection of physics, nanooptics, and materials science.Approach:The enhanced system will advance ultra-fast nano-resolved experiments to the next generation of optical control by acquiring an ultra-high power fs laser that will enable previously impossible pump-probe experiments requiring: i) extremely high pump-pulse energy and the resultant electric fields, ii) high-stability and signal-to-noise and iii) broad tunability from sub-THz frequencies to visible light.SOW:PI will achieve the objectives by acquiring, adapting and installing the proposed equipment and integrate it with his existing lab equipment.
