(DURIP-16) Infrared Cameras And Broadly Tunable Light Sources For Research On Metasurface-Based Optoelectronic Devices And Biomimetic Optical Coatings

Project: Research project

Project Details

Description

This DURIP grant will be used to purchase infrared imaging equipment and broadly tunable coherent light sources, including a supercontinuum laser (SuperK, model EXU-6) and a broadly tunable quantum cascade laser system (Daylight Solutions, MIRcat), for the PI’s research on “flat optics”. The latter are metasurface-based optoelectronic devices and optical coatings that rely on the strong interaction between light and two-dimensional structured materials to control all properties of light, including its amplitude, phase, polarization, optical impedance, and frequency.
