Dana Keys’ Story: Understanding the Racialization of the US Healthcare System

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingChapter

Abstract

Dana is a Black woman born in the Southern US, and tells family stories of their fears of experimentation from the Tuskegee legacy. She had her fifth child at the CBC and experienced a new sense of power and potential. This became her base for major life challenges—her husband’s death from crack, her mother’s death from cancer, her departure from the Apostolic Church, and coming out as gay. She returned to the center for her healthcare throughout the years.
