Klerman, MD, who organized and led the Conference and began the selection of papers for this issue before his death on 3 April 1992. Gerry invited a distinguished group of international scientists and clinicians from academia and government to review progress in understanding the epidemiology, clinical course, treatment and management of panic disorder over the previous 8 years. The Geneva Conference was a follow-up of a similar review he led in December 1982 in Key Biscayne, Florida. Both Conferences were supported by The Upjohn Company.
