Abstract

Genioplasty or mentoplasty procedures have been commonly performed for many years [1, 2]. The goal of any genioplasty procedure is to restore harmony and balance of the chin with the face. Owing to the improvement of fixation techniques with plates and screws, reconstructive and corrective bone surgery has become considerably more predictable than was possible when wire osteosynthesis was used [2]. This chapter discusses the advantages, indications, and techniques for application of rigid internal fixation in genioplasty.
