Abstract
Lizette is a Puerto Rican/Afro-Peruvian woman who birthed her daughter at CBC. She shares her lack of knowledge about birthing, her brother’s death from HIV, and her unplanned pregnancy. Month by month she immersed herself in exploring her family’s birthing stories. She learned about cultural practices and became an adamant supporter of midwifery care.
