Abstract

Marilyn is a Dominican woman who brought her small son Luis to CBC for her second son’s prenatal and birthing care. She then had her third child with the midwives and went on to work as a midwifery assistant at the Center. On his nineteenth birthday, Luis was murdered. She recounts how her midwife went through the funeral with her, supporting her as if she were in labor.
