Description
THE SPECIFIC AIMS OF THE ORIGINAL RESEARCH PROPOSAL A DETERMINATION OF BIOACTIVE PROTEINS SECRETED BY THE HUMAN VASCULATURE IN RESPONSE TO LOW DOSE SPACE RADIATION REMAIN UNCHANGED WITH THE EXCEPTION OF: 1) RE-NUMBERING AIMS 1A/1B TO AIM 2; AND 2) MODIFYING THE IRRADIATION PLAN TO INCLUDE THE USE OF GAMMA AND MIXED FIELD EXPOSURES (SIMPLIFIED GCR SIM) INSTEAD OF A PROTON/FE MIXTURE TO INCREASE PROGRAMMATIC RELEVANCY. IN RESPONSE TO PEER REVIEW CELLS WILL BE CULTURED AT BNL 24HRS BEFORE AND AFTER IRRADIATION. AS DISCUSSED WITH THE SPACE RADIATION ELEMENT AUGMENTATION TO THE RESEARCH PLAN WILL INCLUDE THE ADDITION OF A NEW SPECIFIC AIM 1 TO PROVIDE RBES FOR VARIOUS VASCULAR ENDPOINTS TO FILL IMPORTANT GAPS IN THE SR INTEGRATED RESEARCH PLAN INFORMING THE DEVELOPMENT OF SPACE PERMISSIBLE EXPOSURE LIMITS.
