Cholinergic contribution to pupil-linked arousal

Project Narrative This project will examine the role of the cholinergic systems in mediating pupil-linked arousal. Dysregulation of the pupil-linked arousal system has been implicated in major clinical disorders, including schizophrenia, Parkinson’s disease, and depression, evidenced by abnormal pupil dynamics reported in individuals with these disorders. Therefore, the results of the proposed project will contribute to the knowledge base, potentially leading to more effective diagnosis and improved treatment of the disorders.
