Source memory for memories of mental imagery: a mathematical modeling approach

The present research proposal aims to investigate the source monitoring process between memories of mental imagery and memories of visual perception. Two experiments will be conducted to examine source monitoring, whereby the data will be analyzed with mathematical models to disentangle the different contributing processes in the source monitoring process. Furthermore, an additional third experiment and conditions in the first and second research study aim to differentiate mental imagery from refreshing in visual working memory. This experimental procedure as well as the mathematical modeling approaches will establish the opportunity to make concrete interpretations on the underlying processes and to make specific predictions for behavioral data.
