Description

This project examines whether collective bargaining agreements can mitigate distorting wage effects on natives after an inflow of foreign workers. Collective bargaining agreements (CBAs) typically include minimum wage clauses and regulations like working hours or wage eligibility during absences. The first part of the project consists of accessing text data on clauses of the collective bargaining agreements. Second, the data is used to estimate how the different clauses, in particular the minimum wage regulation, interact with the share of foreign workers by looking at changes in the wages of natives.
