Description

Welfare reform restricted access to Medicaid for non-citizen children. Research suggests that this resulted in an increase in uninsured children in low-income immigrant families. This two-year project will use the National Health Interview Survey for the years 1992-2001 to study the effects of welfare reform on the use of health care by immigrant children as well as their physical and mental health, and developmental outcomes.
