Resumen
Given the critical structure and function of the meniscus, this structure once considered vestigial cannot be easily removed without consequences. Nevertheless, partial meniscectomy is one of the most common orthopaedic surgeries performed and a significant risk factor for knee osteoarthritis. Accordingly, a breadth of scientific research has emerged over the last several decades to optimize meniscus repair and replacement strategies for patients with meniscal deficiency.
