Description

Prior research has shown that elite employers, such as top consulting, finance, and law firms, often consider a candidate's extracurricular activities when making hiring decisions. These firms primarily favor extracurricular activities that resonate with White, upper middle-class culture, such as lacrosse. Sustainable development expert Tarikua Erda will examine employer reliance on extracurricular activities as a screening tool in hiring and how this reliance may exacerbate inequity. She will conduct surveys with both employers and students for her study.
