Description

Project Narrative Healthy cognitive function depends on the ability to reason about and act on information that is accumulated over time. The brain mechanisms that support these abilities are likely to also support simpler perceptual decisions, and the restoration of these mechanisms could play an essential role in future treatments of cognitive disorders. This proposal leverages knowledge of visual processing in the brain to understand how two decision-related areas—the superior colliculus and the lateral intraparietal area—support the accumulation of evidence and its transformation into a relevant action.
