Past World Congresses include:12th WCCM, 2016, Seoul, Korea (1800 participants)11th WCCM, 2014, Barcelona, Spain (3500 participants)10th WCCM, 2012, São Paulo, Brazil (2000 participants)9th WCCM, 2010, Sydney, Australia (1600 participants)8th WCCM, 2008, Lido Island, Venice, Italy, (2000 participants)7th WCCM, 2006, Century City, California, USA (2000 participants)6th WCCM, 2004, Beijing, China (1500 participants)5th WCCM, 2002, Vienna, Austria (1600 participants)The main objective is bringing together diverse communities active in computational science andengineering and promoting interactions between federal agencies, academia and industry. Aconcentrated effort will be made to attract new participants from consulting engineering firmsand from key computer and software companies, while retaining the Congress's coreconstituency of scientists from academia and government laboratories. The requested fundingwill support the participation of young researchers, especially graduate students, offering them aunique opportunity to disseminate their research results, contact potential employers, and learnabout the latest advances in this rapidly developing field.
