Project Details
Description
This study sets out to investigate the role of microglia and the neurotrophin receptor p75NTR on neuronal
degeneration in frontotemporal dementia. We combine molecular analyses including single-nucleus RNA
sequencing in postmortem brain tissue with a dynamic human stem cell model of frontotemporal dementia
using patient-derived induced pluripotent stem cells. Co-culture assays, overexpression and knockdown of
p75NTR as well as cell transplantation and single cell analyses will be performed to elucidate the
mechanisms underlying this disease.
