Description
PROJECT NARRATIVE
Africa, the birthplace of modern humans, is the single most informative continent for
understanding the human genome and human disorders with worldwide impact. Since most
genomic research has not involved African populations, generations of human genetic history
are missing from our understanding of human genetics and complex disease. In this study, we
will use novel whole genome sequencing strategies to characterize the genetic bases of
schizophrenia in the Xhosa population of South Africa.
