Description

The evolving area of Public Health Ethics is the applicant's core research interest. The planned research stay at the Mailman School of Public Health, University of Columbia, New York will provide the applicant with an excellent possibility to expand her knowledge in theory and practice of public health ethics.Three main reasons explain why the international short visit at Columbia University is of high importance for the applicant:- Whereas in the USA there is already a considerable and highly influencial academic activity in this field, the discourse in Europe and especially in Switzerland is still in its beginning. The inviting researcher, Prof. Ronald Bayer, is among the worldwide leading figures in public health ethics.- The insights gained during the research stay will excellently enrich the applicant's research agenda (ethics of health care systems and health care for ethnic minorities) and her academic profile, so that a considerable enhancement of her career can be expected.- The insights gained during the research stay will be highly beneficial for the Institute of Biomedical Ethics, University of Zurich, since Public Health Ethics is intended to be further developed at the institute in the areas of research and teaching.
