Resumen

Using a two-piece mold for implant-retained auricular prostheses has several advantages over a three-piece mold. The two-piece mold is easier and quicker to make and is more durable. Using a flask for gypsum molds is necessary to ensure the viability of the molds for reuse in remaking prostheses. The techniques presented focused on creating a two-piece mold for an implant-retained auricular prosthesis. Many of the concepts presented are applicable to all types of prostheses. The use of a flask for gypsum molds, the duplication of the master cast, the use of analogs of the retention elements for the mold, the lining of the flask with a polyvinyl siloxane putty, and the wax elimination techniques are all useful for making and preserving different types of molds for facial prostheses.
