Résumé
The purpose of this research was to study the effect of five test hydrogenated starch hydrolysates on plaque pH in vivo. The results were compared with those produced by positive and negative controls. The results indicated that three test materials, Lycasin (Roquette Corporation, Gurnee, IL), Crystalline maltitol, and Maltisorb (Roquette Corporation, Gurnee, IL), were statistically equivalent to the negative control, sorbitol, and therefore can be considered noncariogenic.
